Things to Do In Brooksville and Florida's Adventure Coast

BROOKSVILLE is a wonderful city of hills, ranging in elevation from 175 to 274 feet. Coupled with its condensed area (2.77 square miles) and its long history of successful planters, growers, and cattlemen, Brooksville is more a reflection of "the Old South" than other West Coast towns.

The Brooksville area provides many opportunities to get out and communicate with nature. From our Coastal Beaches and Preserves to kayaking, golf, hiking and bicycling we have an adventure ready for you!

  • Visit Pine Island, our family-friendly beach for sunbathing, swimming, and beautiful sunsets!

  • Check out the Mermaids at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, go on a cruise in the Gulf, or take a deep-sea fishing trip. Swim with Manatees while snorkeling or scuba diving.

  • Kayak one of our many unspoiled rivers or explore the Gulf Coast.

  • Go charter fishing from Bayport, a short 30 minute drive away!

  • Attend a special event - from the famous Florida Blueberry Festival in April, Bicycling events, Art in the Park, or one of our many seasonal holiday happenings.

  • Ride on the wild side on scenic bike trails designed for cyclists of every level. Miles of paved rail trails follow the routes of former train tracks and nearby highways. Offroad trails abound in the Croom Recreation Area.

  • Go motorized in the Croom Motorcycle Area with challenging ATV or dirt bike riding.

  • Explore some of the best hiking trails in Florida. Hike under a canopy of hardwood and longleaf pine, past unspoiled lakes and rivers, and into the heart of the Sunshine State. Check out a cave or two.

  • For the equestrian enthusiast we have miles of horseback trails nestled in scenic countryside where you can enjoy a trot or a gallop.

  • Go golfing! We have two award-winning Tom Fazio courses at the World Woods Golf Club, Pete Dye’s Southern Hills masterpiece, and several other championship courses on the hilly terrain of Brooksville Ridge, and don't forget the course at the Brooksville Country Club!

  • Ziplining at TreeUmph! Take a flyer through the trees,  explore obstacle courses, and zip through our beautiful countryside at TreeUmph!

There’s so much authentic Florida to explore in Brooksville and Hernando County. From the Gulf Coast to the Withlacoochee River, whether on water or land we have opportunities for everyone.
